Dye Infusion Experiments in Agarose Gel Brain Phantoms using Multiport Catheter

Dye infusion experiments into brain surrogates were conducted to quantify the volume of distribution as a function of infusion parameters and catheter configurations. A hollow membrane multi-port catheter was tested for dye distribution and reflux of the infusate. Its performance was compared to a simple single port catheter. The dye distribution pattern was more even in the hollow membrane catheter. Leakback was found to be large in the single port configuration at high micro-infusion rate. The hollow membrane catheter showed only marginal leakback for the same infusion parameters.
